The mother and daughter were electrocuted in Kamuli
Police in Kamuli district have launched investigations into the deaths of Kazibila Tapenesi, 52, and her 26-year-old daughter, Nabirye Majeri, who were both electrocuted in a tragic incident in Buduli Zone, Nabigulu parish.
The incident occurred at around 6:00 am on Sunday. According to preliminary reports, Kazibila was washing and hanging clothes on a clothesline when she accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire hanging nearby. She was fatally electrocuted.
Nabirye, in an attempt to rescue her mother, also came into contact with the live wire and was electrocuted as well. Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North police spokesperson, confirmed the deaths and revealed that the bodies were transported to Kamuli General Hospital for postmortem examinations.
Kasadha expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged the public to promptly report any sightings of exposed or live electrical wires to local authorities or utility companies to prevent similar tragedies. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
