
The second edition of the Sauti Canvas came to pass last Wednesday when the grand finale was held at Movit Industrial area.
The Sauti Canvas is a program designed to give a chance to all young people who are under 30 years old to showcase their talents in music, art and fashion, among others.
The 2024 edition was held under the theme Tap My Untapped Potential, with aim to break barriers around persons with disabilities. The event saw Parton Musimenta crowned as the 2024 winner of Sauti Canvas.
Musimenta walked away with a cash prize of Shs 2.5m, while Florence Nabukenya was first runner-up and got Shs 1.5m. Mary Chris Kirabo, the second runner-up, got Shs 1m. “By nurturing young talents, promoting disability inclusion, and advocating for youth-friendly services, Sauti Canvas remains a catalyst for transformation in Uganda’s art scene.
This platform celebrates creativity and empowers individuals to reach their full potential, significantly impacting the lives of youth nationwide,” said Humphrey Nabimanya, the founder of Reach A Hand Uganda.
The event also saw Eddy Kenzo, VJ Junior, Daxx Kartel, and Babaluku in attendance and they encouraged the youth to focus on education to cause change.
