3 charged for threatening violence against Kabale deputy RDC 

Three people have been charged with threatening violence against Kabale deputy resident district commissioner Ronald Bakak.

Hafisa Burera, Vastina Mukakigeri, and Charles Swaib Nyamurwana – all residents of Nyabikoni in Central Division, Kabale Municipality allegedly threatened to assault Bakak while at his offices at Kabale district headquarters.

The trio had gone to settle land wrangles with a section of their relatives led by Agnes Mukamanzi and Moses Kewell of the same residence.  However, during the mediation process, the trio sharply disagreed with Mukamazi’s faction to the extent of fighting.

Bakak says that he advised the warring parties to go home and return when they were calm. However, this angered Burera, Mukakigeri, and Nyamurwana who attempted to assault Bakak. 

Appearing before Kabale Chief Magistrate’s court, the three were charged with threatening violence contrary to section 81 (a) of the Penal Code Act. State prosecutor Julie Najjunju asked the court to proceed with the hearing of the case since police investigations are complete. 

But their lawyer Anthony Aryanyijuka of Beitwenda and Company Advocates instead asked and secured a Shs 2 million non-cash bail for the suspects. Kabale chief magistrate adjourned the case until July 22.
