PostBank Uganda assures customers of safety amid counterfeit incident

KAMPALA, Uganda — PostBank Uganda has assured its customers that all transactions are safe and secure, following the discovery of counterfeit notes worth 500 million Uganda shillings at its Mbale branch.
The bank emphasized that the incident was isolated and that its robust internal control mechanisms had detected the counterfeit notes before any customers were impacted.
“We want to reassure our customers that their deposits and transactions are safe and secure,” PostBank Uganda said in a statement. “We have in place all the required resources and technology to detect counterfeit notes, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and security.”
The bank also assured customers that it complies with all regulations set by the Bank of Uganda and the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda, ensuring the safety of all customers’ deposits.
PostBank Uganda said it is cooperating fully with the Uganda Police in their investigation into the incident and is committed to transparency and accountability.
