Missing Kitagata SS student found dead inside pit latrine

Caption Rumanzi was found dead on Wednesday

Caption Rumanzi, a 23-year-old student of Kitagata Senior Secondary School in Sheema district who has been missing since Sunday has been found dead inside a pit latrine.

Rumanzi was reported missing on Monday by the deputy headteacher Asaph Mwije. Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson Martial Tumusiime says that Rumanzi was last seen on the school premises on Sunday.

Tumusiime says that Rumanzi’s body was on Wednesday discovered in the school pit latrine that had collapsed on the day the student disappeared.  

Elly Biryomumaisho the headteacher of Kitagata secondary school said that the incident briefly disrupted the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams. Tumusiime says that the body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the parents for burial.
