Minister Anyakun vouches for new market for Ugandans in Oman

The governments of Uganda and Oman have agreed to initiate a memorandum of understanding to expedite the process of labour migration in order to officially recruit Ugandans in Oman.
This was reached at during a recent bilateral meeting between Esther Anyakun, the state minister of Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations and her Oman compatriot Mahad Said Ali Baawain.
Anyakun commended the relations between the two countries and encouraged Baawain to visit Uganda and explore the investment opportunities here.
The memorandum will set out a framework under which Ugandan migrant workers will be recruited to Oman. It will include areas of cooperation, recruitment, protection of the rights and promotion of the welfare of workers as well as the setting up of a joint committee to oversee the implementation and interpretation of the memorandum.
Anyakun noted Oman is a great place to work for Ugandans and there are many opportunities for career development. On his part, Baawain said that salaries for migrant workers in Oman are much better than what Ugandans get in other countries.
