Mbarara High court to rule on LC term extension in Oct
Minister of Local Government extended the LC terms by 6 months
Mbarara High court has scheduled October 14 as the date when it will consider an application filed challenging the extension of the terms of office for Local Council (LC) I and II chairpersons.
Earlier last week, Mbarara city lawter James Owebeyi petitioned Mbarara High court, seeking a judicial review against the extension of the village chairpersons’ terms.
The minister of Local Government, Raphael Magyezi, recently extended the terms of office for LC I and LC II chairpersons by six months.
The notice of motion, dated July 12 and signed by Mbarara High court deputy registrar Nanteza Zulaika, lists several grounds for demanding judicial review.
