Madrat and Chico

Last Friday, comic duo Madrat & Chiko held the fourth edition of their annual comedy show, Nseko Buseko – translated ‘just for laughs’ – at UMA multi-purpose hall in Nakawa.

The attendance was huge, compared to the last edition; by 7pm the hall was full to capacity. For a newcomer, the jokes were new and funny, but facts be told, there was nothing new as the funny men recycled most of their jokes. Still, the show was well-attended and the duo did justice to the fourth season.

They had three sessions on stage, some of which featured different acts such as Fun Factory, among others, who brought fresh jokes to the show.

The chemistry Madrat & Chiko have on stage is possibly their bestselling strength; it was so natural and complementary, and kept fans in a jolly mood throughout. They have jokes about each other, then top it up with jokes on topical issues – of course, this season had to feature DNA testing.

The highlight of the night also came at their final performance, when they featured the Fun Factory crew in a heavenly skit featuring some of Uganda’s prominent politicians and business people, which left the crowd roaring with laughter.

Unlike many comedians that use abusive language and sex jokes, Madrat & Chiko kept their jokes clean, and interacted well with their audience, which was a breath of fresh air in that entertainment field.

During the show, there were musical performances from Eddy Kenzo, Geosteady, Pr Wilson Bugembe and Alien Skin, who was also accompanied by his young, popular protege, Champion Gudo.
