BNI officials at the press conference
Members of Business Network International (BNI) who want to grow and expand their businesses should attend this month’s East African Convention, Diana Ninsiima Kibuuka, national director of BNI in Uganda has said.
Other BNI members from Kenya, Tanzania, and businesspeople from Nigeria, India, Bahrain, Dubai, Oman are expected to attend the convention scheduled for September 22 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The convention, Ninsiima said, will offer an opportunity for BNI Uganda members to network outside their chapters and probably get new referrals, skills, and inspirations from outside. She said in the last 12 months, from the 13.1 million referrals and opportunities within the BNI networks in 77 countries, at least $20.6 billion (about Shs 74 trillion) was generated globally.
The first East African convention was first held in Nairobi, Kenya last year where several business ideas and opportunities were exchanged according to Ninsiima.
“We meet every week and in these meetings is where we connect and support each other by building relationships and supporting each other. From its inception today members of BNI Uganda have passed over She 100 billion amongst themselves. Today BNI Uganda has 230 members,” said Ninsiima.
She added that BNI membership cuts across from financial services, education to professionals like lawyers and doctors, and manufacturing.
Stella Nassali Mudoola, director at X-ERA Ltd and a member of BNI in Uganda said through BNI, her company was turned around and uplifted from near closure with her clientele not only improving by over 100 per cent, but also improving in quality.
She said with LPO financing, she said her company isn’t shying away from certain jobs anymore as they are able to access financing within one or two days. Mark Karamira Karyegesa of Spe Taxi Cab also a member of BNI Uganda said BNI members subscribe to the philosophy of giving business opportunities through referrals to each other. He said soon BNI will spread to Mbarara, Mbale, Fort Portal and Gulu.
