Joeboy thrills fans at Lavida Rave

Joeboy performs

Nigerian artiste Joeboy kept his word, delivering an electrifying performance on July 27.

The Adenuga hitmaker was at Lugogo Hockey Grounds for the Lavida Rave. City MC Dreadlock Dziz opened the stage as early as 8pm and instead of curtain-raisers, the audience was treated to DJ battles between some of Uganda’s best.

In the first battle, Em that Guy and Eyo Mackus had the crowd on their feet with their meticulous mixes. With an all-expenses-paid trip to a selected Uganda Airlines destination at stake, Eyo Mackus just about edged out Em.

In the next set, female nightlife sensations Lynda Ddane and DJ Hady faced off. With Lynda Ddane concentrating on dancehall hits, Hady raised the audience with RnB. Lynda Ddane scooped the Uganda Airlines gift.

At about 11:30pm, Joeboy came on stage with Body and Soul. The song had particularly the ladies, belting their hearts out. After Body and Soul, Joeboy took a minute to express his gratitude to Uganda.

“You guys [Ugandans] are the number one Joeboy fans. By the time I became a star in Lagos, Kampala was already booking me. In 2019, I performed two songs over five times. However, today I have over 20 hits lined up for you,” Joeboy said.

Joeboy went ahead to perform Baby and Alcohol with charisma. From the moment he began his set, it was clear that Joeboy had come prepared to deliver a memorable show.

Ugandan sensation Joshua Baraka joined Joeboy on stage for their collaboration, a remix of the hit song Nana. There was also time for other hits including Adenuga, Beginner, and Low Key, which had the crowd singing along.
