The latest violence in Sudan's westernmost region near Chad erupted between members of Arab tribes and the Masalit non-Arab group in the town of Foro Baranga, about 185 kilometres from Geneina the capital of West Darfur state. 

The dispute arose on Wednesday after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), an elite paramilitary force, deployed troops in Meroe, north of Khartoum in what the Sudanese military said was a violation of their mandate.

INEC filed its defence at the presidential election tribunal against Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), both of whom are claiming to have won the poll. 

AFP journalists saw police breaking up the encampment outside the Tunis office of the global body's refugee agency United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The migrants from sub-Saharan Africa have been protesting there, saying they are not safe in Tunisia.
