The court tussle regards the MK's registration with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The ANC and MK squared off in the Electoral Court in Bloemfontein on Tuesday afternoon as SA's governing party wants the decision to register MK with the IEC overturned. 

Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been fighting Sudan's army for control of the country in a war that has killed thousands, displaced millions of people inside and outside the country and sparked warnings of famine.

The children "were subjected to abuse as cheap labour, doing manual work in the name of being taught life skills", a police statement said.

"Three monks were subjected to a criminal assault inside our Coptic monastery," the spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church said in statement posted on Facebook, without elaborating.

"I forced her to go to school that morning despite her complaining to me of a fever," a sobbing Khadiya Kuriga told Reuters by phone from Kuriga town. "We have been crying since yesterday. Our children are hungry."

"This cessation of hostilities must lead to a definitive silencing of the guns across the country and set out a firm path towards lasting peace for the Sudanese people," Guterres told the 15-member Security Council.

The announcement caps a dramatic evening that saw Sall dissolve the government and replace Prime Minister Amadou Ba with Interior Minister Sidiki Kaba so that Ba, the ruling coalition's presidential candidate, can focus on his electoral campaign, the presidency said.

The government blamed the attack on the opposition.

Mr Perriello will help coordinate US diplomacy and efforts with partners across Africa and the Middle East to end the war, humanitarian crisis and atrocities, a dispatch said on Monday.

The United Nations authorised the mission in October, a year after Haiti's unelected government requested it. The UN estimates the conflict in the Caribbean nation killed close to 5,000 people last year and has driven some 300,000 from their homes.
