With the political and security climate in the Democratic Republic of Congo extremely tense in the run-up to December 20 elections, Corneille Nangaa, ex-head of the country's electoral commission, made the announcement in Nairobi, Kenya.

"There has been a two-week extension to the ceasefire in Eastern DRC," according to the Biden administration official, who declined to be named.

Originally Ugandan rebels with a Muslim majority, the ADF have been active since the mid-1990s in the Eastern DR Congo, where they have killed thousands of civilians. 

Musa Musasizi pleaded guilty to the charges before he was convicted by the trial Judge Margaret Mutonyi.

The latest development will now bring to an end the need to apply for a visa to visit the country to all citizens of the world.

"At the moment, President Hassan is leading government efforts in dealing with the deadly deluge," Mwinyi, who represented the president at the Jamhuri Day celebrations, told Kenyan President William Ruto in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. 

Some 44 million registered voters are set to cast ballots in the vast nation on December 20, in concurrent presidential, parliamentary, provincial and municipal elections. 

Less known is how much the British imperialist government tried to cover up these violations.

"The US government will use its intelligence and diplomatic resources to monitor the activities by armed forces and non-state armed groups during the ceasefire," white house National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said.
