Aziz Azion

In 2011, Aziz Azion held his concert, Oxygen, at Kati Kati, and it was a full house then, as it was last Saturday at Kampala Serena hotel as he celebrated 15 years of his music career.

Aziz Azion wanted Ugandans to appreciate Ugandan music with his ‘Strings of Love’ concert – also his first show in more than seven years.

The gifted guitarist and vocalist did three sessions, with Maestro band backing him up. He kicked off the first session at 8:30pm with Baliwa, Wampisa, Bad as well as Nakupenda, his collaboration with GNL Zamba. When it came to GNL’s lyrics, it was Fresh Kid who delivered beautifully in a display of musical maturity from the primary school pupil.

Azion left the stage for Levixone to perform Chikibombe and Turn Da Replay, among others. In his second session, Azion returned to stage with Nsazewo, Beautiful, Painkiller, Beera Nange and Your Love, among others. He then left the stage to Jamal Wasswa, whose Ononsonyiwa and Anaavawa brought memories to the audience.

Jamal put up a formidable performance

Rema Namakula’s appearance was also a surprise to many and she sang Ngonze and Tonight before Aziz Azion joined her to do their collaboration, Oli Wa Kabi, promising to shoot a video for it.

Nkumiira Omukwano, Oxygen, Omulembe and lastly Winner were the last songs kept for his third and last session, inviting over artistes Barbie Jay and Kenneth Mugabi to join him on stage in a successful show of old being indeed gold.
