Groom and bride pose for pictures after church service
On December 17, 2022, the consular general of Uganda in Dubai, Ambassador Henry Mayega walked his daughter Rena Patricia Nakyeyune
down the aisle.
About one week after introducing her longtime fiancé at her parents’ Bwebajja-based home, Nakyeyune and David Ndugwa exchanged their matrimonial vows at Namirembe cathedral.
The Rev Canon Dr John Ssenyonyi conducted the wedding ceremony. Clad in a white wedding gown, Nakyeyune and her father walked down the aisle to a waiting Ndugwa, amidst cheers and jubilation from the attendees. Dressed in a black and navy-blue coat and a dotted bowtie, the groom from the Ndugwa family of Mutundwe had earlier been escorted by his parents to the altar.
The two lovebirds later treated their guests to a lavish reception held at Kampala Sheraton hotel.

“You have made important vows. Preserve your marriage with faithfulness. Faithfulness is not optional for a successful marriage. Faithfulness can be measured by the strength of your marriage. The faithful are promise-keepers. Faithfulness is trust and loyalty. Every marriage dies without trust,” Canon Ssenyonyi said.
The wedding ceremony was attended by, among others, dignitaries from central government, cultural leaders from Buganda and politicians. At the reception, the ambassador gifted his daughter with a brand new car and cautioned her to always respect her husband and choose family over other things.
Ndugwa holds a diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa. The old boy of Greenhill Academy and King’s College Budo also holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology from the University of Greenwich in the UK.
Nakyeyune, a Gayaza Old Girl, holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory technology from Makerere University and a master’s degree in Epidemiology and Health Statistics from Capital Medical University, Beijing.
