DJs mix Amapiano music

Amapiano music lovers had a blast over the weekend at the Alliance Francaise rooftop during the second edition of Piano People, a music experience where fans of this popular genre of music from South Africa come together for a good time.

Amapiano is a blend of house music and jazz elements, which gives the genre an infectious rhythm. Organized by Vibez Nzuri, an experiential entertainment brand that focuses on creating memorable party experiences for young people as well as giving a platform for young creatives of the new emerging generation, the event saw performances from Kampala’s top Amapiano DJs like Xhaga, Nach Mao, Jean, Damze, El DJ, Melvin, Eyo Mackus and Aweko Brain.

Brian Owomugisha, the CEO of Vibez Nzuri, said Piano People is dedicated to celebrating the incredible music diversity in Uganda and pushing boundaries of what is possible and, therefore, they are introducing something new to the Ugandan entertainment scene.

Revelers at the party

The event kicked off at 2pm with DJ Xhaga and as the sun set in the Kampala horizon, the young, vibrant and cool audience steadily grew in number as the other DJs also joined the decks to play a wide variety of Amapiano mixes.

But it was not only the DJs on the ones and twos that excited revelers; the evening also incorporated the drums and guitar by Drum Doctor.

The effervescent pulses created by the mixes had everyone bring out their best dance strokes from quick-step moves to body popping and Amapiano dance challenges like the pouncing cat, Zekethe, Dakiwe and the famous Mlando.

After an intense 10-hour rooftop experience which closed at midnight, it was clear that no music genre currently gets partygoers grooving like amapiano.
