Ugandans urged to support local investors as UHome store opens
KAMPALA, Uganda — State Minister for Finance in charge of investment and privatization, Evelyn Anite, has encouraged Ugandans to support local investors, particularly those from Mbale.
Anite made the remarks while officiating the grand opening of the UHome store at Arena Mall in Nsambya. She commended the Tian Tang Group of Companies for producing high-quality, affordable products.
“I’m so happy that even us in Uganda have reached the level of producing high-quality furniture, electronics, construction materials and all other consumables as displayed in this showroom,” Anite said. “I thank Mr. Paul for giving people an opportunity to enjoy all locally manufactured products at an affordable price.”
Anite called upon Ugandans to support UHome, which deals exclusively in locally manufactured products. She noted that buying from UHome saves time and money, while also creating employment opportunities for Ugandans.
“When you buy from UHome, you save time and money which you would have spent on looking for quality products in scattered places,” Anite said. “On top of that, you create more employment opportunities for our brothers and sisters employed in Mbale Industrial Park.”
Paul Zhang, chairman of Tian Tang Group, thanked the government for its support and promised to open more showrooms in Kampala and other regions of Uganda.
“Thank you to the government of Uganda through the minister for the support they have extended to investors in the country,” Zhang said. “With support from the government, we are planning to open a bigger showroom in Kampala, and also other stores in all regions of Uganda to enable all people to enjoy locally manufactured products at an affordable price.”
Luke Wang, managing director of UHome, thanked customers for their support and promised to continue serving Ugandans at affordable prices.
“We have a strong support from Mbale Industrial Park; all the things you see are made in Uganda, not China,” Wam said. “We are ready to continue serving Ugandans at affordable prices throughout the festive season and beyond.”
At the official opening, the store offered discounted prices on its products, attracting a large number of customers. A raffle draw was also held, with prizes awarded to lucky customers by musician Joseph Mayanja, also known as Jose Chameleon.
