Emmanuel Wamala on Saturday returned unopposed as Uganda Golf Club captain at the club’s 93rd Annual General Meeting at Kitante.
Wamala, who replaced the late Patrick Bill last year, was retained alongside vice-captain Paul Nuwagaba, who also sailed through unopposed. The only change in the management committee was of Daniel Kalimuzo who was elected unopposed as Honorary Secretary, replacing outgoing Ruth Ssali.
Wamala was visibly elated by the trust the members had given him and he promised to work with his team to take Uganda Golf Club to greater heights.
“Your confidence in me is very humbling and my only promise is that we shall continue working together with everyone to make sure we deliver to the best of our abilities to take this club to higher standards,” he remarked in his acceptance speech.
Most notable among Wamala’s achievements has been to change the land tenure from Leasehold to Freehold.
“I wish to inform members that we have two titles as follow: Title A covering the front nine and back nine excluding holes 15, 16 and 17 has been secured into a Freehold tenure while the process for Title B, which is 15, 16 and 17, is on-going,” Wamala told the meeting.
A day earlier, the Board Of Trustees chaired by Dr Sam Zaramba had unveiled the refurbished reception of the club that made it at par with international clubhouses. Works, funded by the club’s development fund, have been ongoing on and off the course to continuously improve and maintain the shape and conditions of the country’s most famous golf course.
