Old Mutual, Rotary Uganda Launch Digital Funeral Cover for Rotarians

KAMPALA, UGANDA — Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda has partnered with Rotary Uganda to introduce an affordable, fully digital group funeral cover for Rotarians in District 9213, which includes Uganda, and District 9214. The initiative aims to enhance financial well-being and provide critical support to Rotarian families during bereavement.
The new Group Funeral Cover offers annual premiums ranging from UGX 95,000 to UGX 250,000, making financial protection accessible to a wider segment of Rotary members. In line with Old Mutual’s digital transformation strategy, the product allows Rotarians to onboard, purchase, and make claims through multiple self-service channels. These include dialing *228#, messaging the official WhatsApp line at 0709 460 552, or using a secure online platform.

Patrick Kimathi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration. “We are proud to partner with Rotary Uganda as a key strategic partner in helping us achieve our sustainability goal to build strong and prosperous communities, running a sustainable business and protecting the planet,” Kimathi said. “By working hand in hand, we’re not just providing financial protection to Rotarians; we’re also creating lasting impact through shared values and meaningful action.”
Beyond the insurance product, the partnership signifies a broader collaboration. Old Mutual has committed to actively support several Rotary initiatives, including the annual Rotary Cancer Run, basic literacy programs, financial literacy campaigns, and tree planting projects. These commitments align with Old Mutual’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability objectives.

Anne Nkutu, Rotary Uganda’s District Governor for 9213, highlighted the alignment of values. “Rotary stands for service above self. This partnership with Old Mutual Life Assurance is a reflection of our shared values — community, dignity, and impact,” Nkutu stated. “The Group Funeral Cover provides our members with a dignified solution that brings peace of mind while strengthening the bonds of solidarity across the Rotary fraternity.”
The collaboration leverages Rotary Uganda’s extensive grassroots network and Old Mutual’s established insurance expertise and digital innovation to redefine how Rotarians access protection, convenience, and community support. Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda is a subsidiary of the UAP Old Mutual Group, part of Old Mutual Limited (OML), an African financial services group operating in 13 countries. Rotary connects 1.4 million people globally across more than 46,000 clubs, with nearly 10,000 Rotarians in Uganda.
