30 Lucky Drivers Honored in Latest Round of Vivo Energy Promotion

KAMPALA, Uganda— Vivo Energy Uganda (VIVO.UG), the local distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, continued its customer engagement strategy by recognizing another 30 commercial drivers in the sixth week of its “Omunene W’ekkubo” campaign. The initiative underscores the company’s focus on a key customer segment while promoting its Shell FuelSave Diesel product.

The latest activation, held Saturday at a Shell station in Banda, saw participating taxi, truck, and bus drivers receive prizes valued at approximately UGX 200,000 each, including fuel vouchers, Shell Gas cylinders, and Shell Rimula lubricants. This ongoing campaign, now at its midpoint, aims to build brand loyalty among professional drivers who are significant consumers of diesel fuel.

Beyond the headline prizes, Vivo Energy also distributed 6kg Shell Gas cylinders and 10-liter packs of Shell Rimula lubricants to an additional 20 drivers, broadening the campaign’s reach and demonstrating a multi-product promotional approach.

Mark Mutungi, Brand Manager – Fuels at Vivo Energy Uganda, emphasized the strategic importance of this demographic, stating, “Drivers are crucial to Uganda’s economy, facilitating trade and connecting communities. This campaign is a direct investment in recognizing their contribution and fostering a stronger relationship with the Shell brand.”

The geographically diverse campaign spans all four regions of Uganda, ensuring broad participation and maximizing brand visibility across the country. Weekly prize disbursements, including fuel vouchers and branded merchandise, maintain ongoing engagement, while the upcoming grand prize draw of two Toyota Hiace Drone vans provides a significant incentive for continued participation.

Managing Director Joanita Menya Mukasa highlighted the campaign’s broader strategic alignment, noting, “Our support for drivers extends beyond promotional activities. Through initiatives like this and our collaboration with the Uganda Taxi Operators Federation, we are focused on long-term value creation, encompassing road safety, infrastructure development, and community well-being.”

The “Omunene W’ekkubo” campaign incorporates a corporate social responsibility element, including road safety education and health-focused initiatives. This integrated approach aims to enhance Vivo Energy’s reputation and build goodwill within the transportation sector.

Participation in the campaign requires a minimum purchase of UGX 50,000 worth of Shell FuelSave Diesel, directly incentivizing product uptake. This initiative reflects Vivo Energy Uganda’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its market position by directly engaging with key consumer groups and offering tangible value. The company’s commitment to this sector is expected to support its sales volumes and brand preference in a competitive market.
