Will Smith bounces back from that Chris Rock slap

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the fourth instalment in a buddy cop action comedy franchise that began in 1995.

Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are back. Any hope they had of finding a balance between their personal and professional lives goes out the window when a tragedy forces the pair to go on the run.

No one expected this franchise to spawn a fourth film, but Bad Boys for Life performed far better than expected, making $426 million on a $90 million budget. Plans for a fourth instalment were initially put on hold in 2022 when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the Oscars.

However, Sony’s chairman (Tom Rothman) eventually confirmed that a fourth film was still in the works. Critics are divided over Bad Boys 4.

They gave it 63 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it has a 97 per cent audience score. Viewers agree that the humour falls flat. Nonetheless, the film is a fun, explosive ride. You can watch Bad Boys: Ride or Die in cinemas today.
