Shazam: Fury of the Gods is the second film in a DCEU franchise that started in 2019.
The sequel follows the Shazam family and their attempts to stop the Daughters of Atlas from destroying the world. If you skipped the first one, Bily Batson (Asher Angel) is a teen that turns into Shazam (Zachary Levi), a champion and full-grown adult that uses the powers of the gods to protect humanity.
In the first film, Billy turned his foster brothers and sisters into superheroes. In the sequel, the siblings struggle to juggle their personal lives with the demands of their superhero duties.
Critics hate the movie. They gave it a Rotten Tomatoes score of 54 per cent, calling the film ‘Dumb,’ ‘Unfunny,’ and ‘Goofy.’
At 85 per cent, however, the audience rating is very strong.
Still, the film is expected to open with $30 million, which is extremely low for a movie with a $125 million budget. You can catch Shazam: Fury of the Gods at the cinema today.
