Venezuelan Envoy, Ugandan Minister Discuss Stronger Ties

KAMPALA, Uganda— Her Excellency Fatima Yesenia Fernandez Juarez, the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Uganda, paid a courtesy call today on Hon. Oryem Henry Okello, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Fernandez Juarez conveyed the Venezuelan government’s deep gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to her and her delegation since the formal opening of the Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala in March 2025.

She emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Uganda and Venezuela, especially given Uganda’s key role as a partner member of the BRICS alliance.

Minister Okello welcomed the establishment of the Venezuelan Embassy in Uganda, calling it a significant step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation, commercial diplomacy, and people-to-people engagement between the two countries. He thanked the Venezuelan government for its commitment to deepening relations with Uganda.

The minister accepted an invitation to visit the new Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala and reaffirmed Uganda’s appreciation for Venezuela’s renewed commitment to partnership and collaboration
