Uganda’s St Noa thumps Chilean school 8-0 as Kibuli SS bow out of ISF World Championship

Amus College thumped their Nepal opponents 26-1 on Monday to send a warning signal to opponents at the ongoing ISF World Football Championships in Rabat, Morocco. 

Uganda’s other representative in the boys’ category at the championships, Kibuli SS, who on Sunday lost 0-1 to a Qatari school, suffered a blow at the hands of the Chinese side on Monday evening. The former schools’ sports powerhouse were humiliated 3-1 and hence bowed out of the global competition without a point. 

Uganda’s only representative in the girls’ category – St. Noa played to a 1-all draw against hosts Morocco on Sunday before recovering to wallop Chile 8-0 on Monday.

Esther Babirye and Miriam Ayoo scored a brace each on the day as team captain Sarah Babirye led a pack of three others – including Peace Niyomuwongere, Maureen Mutesi Kitimbo and Stephie Mutoni in adding their names on the score sheet with a goal each.

Bukedea School, which has a strong attachment to Kachumbala County MP, Patrick Isiagi Opolot scored seven times through Allan Oyirwoth as Murushid Wandera and Erick Kamuhanda added five and four, respectively. Other goals came through team captain Mahad Mugerwa who netted thrice, Amos Ayikobua and Genesis Ocen Odiya had two each while Habib Farouk Ssebi, Alvin Ssekamate and John Brian Otim added one apiece. Nepal scored their consolation through Ale Krishna Bahadur. 

Amus brightened up their chances of advancing into the competition’s superior stages following a goalless draw against Chile later in the day – a performance that pushed them on top of group A on four points with a French date at hand on Tuesday. 

The tournament under the organisation of the International Schools Federation in corroboration with the Kingdom of Morocco through the ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Federation of Royal Morocco Football and the Federation of Royal Morocco Schools Sports has attracted 50 teams from different parts of the world.
