Ugaroll can arguably take the claim of taking the rolex (Uganda’s unofficial street food made from chapatti and eggs) from the ghetto to the overly- sensitive elites.
With branches in Kyanja, Kisementi and Ntinda, one would say, Ugaroll is surely on the roll. Not many Ugandans are willing to spend Shs 15,000 on a rolex that they would easily get across the street for Shs 3,000 at most; so, little wonder that most of the Ugaroll’s customers look like foreign food tourists.
It is not the same rolex though. It is different both in taste and looks; however, it has a new twist, with fresh juicy pineapple pellets, french beans, eggplants and mushrooms added, depending on the diner’s preference instead of the usual fresh tomatoes and cabbages. The taste is also obviously way better. Try it out for a change. While at it, also try out their chicken sandwich.
It is epic and tastefully indulging. It goes well with just about anything – tea, juice, or even wine. The prices range between Shs 6,000 for the original legendary rolex – the closest to the ‘local’ rolex and Shs 15,000 for the Hawaiian rolex. The sandwiches are just about the same.
