The latest delivery chicken experience did not match the last dine- in lamb chops experience at Taj Asian Bistro.
Of course, lamb and chicken distinctively taste different and the Shs 24,000 and Shs 50,000 price difference tells their own story, but since the accompanying foods were the same in butter naan and biryani rice, I did not expect the tastes to be far off in between.
Whereas the lamb masala combo had been a sumptuous aromatic experience with all the Indian flavours and spices, the chicken combo was surprisingly off except for the rice that still came topped with crispy onions.
This time, the naan was annoyingly too chewy and hard, lacking that desired stretchy and cushy consistency and hence could not offer that amazing base for the butter chicken, which also seemed hushed and lacked the known Indian smooth sail.
The tart-tasting chicken malai tikka though, offered a completely unique new taste – in between the roasted chicken liver taste, basting beef roasteries and the Thailand-themed chicken satay.
It was best eaten alone as it failed to pair with the rice or the naan. Given that it was served in plenty and had a quick satiating effect, you could not finish it off in one go. But the same cannot be said of the rice and butter chicken, which were not served in as large portions.
The satay itself was not well seasoned and salted, which made it taste a little flat – certainly not worth the Shs 28,000 price. The rest of the food is well packaged, though, and one can eventually enjoy their Indian curries and tikkas on the move. The lunch pack is well partitioned to hold each food in its own compartment and there are no worries of spillages.
