Student drags Hoima teacher to police over assault during exam

Justus Mukiibi, a teacher at Premier secondary school in Hoima city is in trouble for allegedly assaulting a senior two student. 

Joan Nyangoma accuses Mukiibi of attacking her for allegedly talking during an entrepreneurship examination on March 17.

According to Nyangoma, Mukiibi slapped her several times and locked her in an office where he continued to assault her. After the incident, Nyangoma was taken to Jobita Medical Centre in Hoima for medical attention, where she was examined and found to have been assaulted on her back, both hands and the chest.   

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says that police summoned the accused teacher to record a statement, but he did not show up.

The assault case has been registered under SD Ref 60/17/03/2023. The school resident director, Moses Mugisa, declined to comment on the matter while the school director, Princess Diana Mugenyi couldn’t be reached.
