Stanbic Uganda Announces Interim Leadership

Stanbic Bank Uganda has named Samuel F Mwogeza as Interim Chief Executive and Barbara Dokoria as Interim Executive Director, effective April 1, 2024. These appointments bridge the gap until permanent replacements are chosen.

Changes at the Top

Mwogeza, currently leading Personal and Private Banking, steps up following Anne Juuko’s transition to a new regional leadership role within the Standard Bank Group. Juuko’s successful tenure as Stanbic Uganda’s CEO comes to an end this month.

Dokoria, the current head of Compliance, takes over on an interim basis from Emma Mugisha who is resigning to pursue opportunities outside the Standard Bank Group.

Appreciation for Outgoing Leaders

The Board Chair, Damoni Kitabire, expressed gratitude to Juuko and Mugisha for their significant contributions to Stanbic Uganda’s achievements. He wished them well in their future endeavors.

Stanbic Uganda’s Strength

Stanbic Bank Uganda maintains its position as the country’s leading commercial bank based on assets, profits, and deposits (as of December 2022). It’s also the core subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, a publicly traded company and part of the Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest lender by assets.
