She Cranes got a sponsorship
Paint giants, Kansai Plascon Uganda has announced a Shs 100m sponsorship package towards the national women’s netball team, She Cranes ahead of the World Cup competition later this month.
The Vitality Netball World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 6 in Cape Town, South Africa. Uganda is set to tussle it out against holders, New Zealand, Singapore, and Trinidad & Tobago in the group stages under pool D.
Plascon managing director, Santosh Gumte noted how the partnership with the She Cranes was in line with the company’s agenda of uplifting women’s sports.
Plascon’s announcement on July 4, followed another Shs 56.4 million sponsorship offer of Shs 56.4 million as well as air tickets sponsorship for the team by Uganda Airlines.
Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) CEO Francis Banya lauded Plascon for standing out of the crowd to support netball-pledging that team would host the national flag high to make Ugandans proud. Plascon’s Tuesday commitment towards netball marked the second such major partnership after last year’s support as the team prepared for the Commonwealth Games.
She Cranes coach Fred Mugerwa noted that the team has been fine-tuned to the required standards – owing to the fact that a number of trial games were arranged, giving the girls an opportunity to adjust accordingly.
