One killed, several injured in Nakasongola accident

One person has been killed and several others injured in an accident in Nakasongola district. 

The accident occurred on Tuesday at Kinoni village, in Kakooge town council, when a truck, reg. no. UAR 703X carrying over 70 casual labourers from a sugarcane plantation developed mechanical problems in Kinoni, veered off the road and overturned several times.

The deceased has not yet been identified while others survived with fractured ribs, legs, and arms and were rushed to St Franciscan health centre IV, Kakooge health centre II, Nakasongola health centre III, and Luwero hospital.

Fred Lubinga, the Katuugo town council LC III chairperson says that the police in the area have several times refused to impound trucks loaded with casual workers.
