Ugandan long-distance runner Joshua Cheptegei has won a gold medal in the 10,000m race at the 2023 World Athletics Championships currently taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

The reigning 10,000m and 5,000m world record (WR) holder, completed the race in 27:51.42 ahead of Kenya’s Daniel Simiu Ebenyo who crossed the finishing line in 27:52.60 while Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega came third at 27:52.72.

Rogers Kibet, another talented Ugandan athlete secured the 20th position with a time of 28:1.16. Cheptegei attributed his victory to prior and proper preparations for the championships.
