Christmas set to dominate cinema

Silent Night is an action/mystery/thriller from John Woo in which a tormented father goes on rampage after gang crossfire claims his young son’s life on Christmas Eve.

Because a wound stole the hero’s voice, the film has almost no dialogue, which is a fascinating gimmick. Silent Night is John Woo’s first American film in twenty years. The director, who made Face/Off, Broken Arrow, and Mission: Impossible 2, is renowned for his chaotic action sequences and frequent use of slow motion.

Unfortunately, despite the excitement surrounding his return, Silent Night has received largely mixed reviews. It currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes critic rating of 60 per cent and an audience score of 50 per cent. But be your own judge; watch Silent Night in cinemas today.
