Kampala, Uganda – Absa Bank Uganda has awarded five customers with a total of UGX 50 million in cash prizes as part of its ongoing card usage campaign.

The winners, who were announced at a ceremony in Kampala, used their debit or credit cards for at least five transactions in November to pay for goods and services.

Michael Segwaya, Absa Bank Uganda’s Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, praised the winners for their loyalty and encouraged customers to continue using their Absa cards.

“Our card payments offer a seamless and secure payment experience for customers,” Segwaya said. “We encourage our customers to embrace the convenience of card payments and stand a chance to be winners under this ongoing campaign.”

The campaign, dubbed “UGX 200 million can change your story,” aims to promote the use of Absa cards for transactions. The bank has committed to giving away a total of UGX 200 million in cash prizes to customers who use their cards regularly.

According to the Uganda Bankers Association, there has been an increase in the utilization of digital payment systems, including point-of-sale, debit cards, mobile banking, mobile money, and internet banking.

Absa Bank Uganda’s Head of Alternate Channels, Sam Kiyaga, emphasized the bank’s commitment to ensuring the security of customers’ transactions.

“We are continually establishing our cyber security measures to safeguard customer investments,” Kiyaga said.

The campaign is expected to run until the end of the year, with more winners expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
