ALP East Africa, the first fully integrated firm in East Africa, has announced key leadership appointments across its Uganda and East Africa offices, further strengthening its commitment to providing top-tier legal and advisory services across the region. 

The appointments are intended to enable the firm to focus on its strategy of building a pan African law practice. 

ALP has presence and affiliations in Nigeria (ALP Nigeria & Co), Ghana (Africa Legal Associates—ALA), and Namibia (ALP Namibia). Mr. Francis Gimara, SC., as Head of ALP East Africa, will continue leading the East Africa practice.  

Dr. Henry M. Onoria, previously, the Head of the Integration & Cross Border Transactions Practice and Knowledge Partner at ALP East Africa, has been elevated to the role of General Counsel – ALP East Africa. His new position will see him provide leadership and mentorship to teams across ALP’s East Africa offices, which operate in Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Tanzania.

Mr. Lastone Gulume B., formerly Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice at ALP Uganda, has been appointed as Head of ALP Uganda. He will undertake the responsibilities of Managing Partner, applying strategic and forward-thinking leadership to guide the firm’s continued growth and excellence in legal services.

Ms. Lucy Suky has been named Associate Partner – ALP Uganda. Previously a Senior Associate Managing Dispute Resolution, she will now collaborate closely with the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. Additionally, she will lead the Business Readiness Support Centre (BRSC), an incubation hub established by ALP to support Ugandan entrepreneurs and startups.

Ms. Judith M. Aboto has been appointed as Associate Partner at ALP Uganda. A Senior Associate in the Infrastructure, Energy & Tech Practice, Judith is a Chevening alumna and a certified Governance Professional (Grad CG) from the Chartered Governance Institute UK. In her new role, she will provide leadership within the Infrastructure, Energy & Tech Practice, ensuring continued excellence in service delivery.
