9 Ugandan students win school fees in Toyota Dream Car Art Contest

Nine students under 15 years of age from across Uganda have won school fees worth Shs 2 million each in the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. 

They also won a Paint and Kids Uganda Session worth Shs 55,000. The winners were under three categories ages 7 and under, ages 8–11 and ages 12–15 were invited to draw their dream cars, igniting their imaginations.

Maxwell Arinaitwe aged 6 at Crest Junior School, Jelani Mustafa, 7, of Kabojja International School and Isaac Ewoku aged 4 at Naguru Infant Primary School won the under 7 category while Clare Tendo Namiiro, 10 (Mbarara Preparatory School), Jason Emaru, 9 (Golden Bell Primary School Mbarara) and Manzi Asiphiwe Rwabose, 10 of King’s Christian Academy won in the 8-11 category.

Winners under the 12-15 category include Nicole Naluwanga aged 12 from Taibah International School, Mahad Abeneitwe aged 15 from Kibuli Secondary School and Arshia Gupta aged 15 from 7 Hills International School.

The winners were chosen by judges with a strong background in arts including Alex Kwizera, a multi-disciplinary artist currently based in Kampala working with various media, mainly painting and illustration, but also sculpture and digital, Isabella Alice Mwebaza, CEO Paint & Kids Uganda and an accountant who works with children during painting sessions and Peter Julius Otim, a primary school art and crafts teacher at Kampala Junior Academy with over 30 years’ experience.

Their artful visions are set to be pitted against other 8 million participants on the world stage from 140 countries for the grand finale prize.
