11 suspects escape from Dokolo police station cells

Police has appealed to the public to volunteer information regarding the 11 suspects who escaped from a cell at Dokolo central police station over the weekend.

According to North Kyoga police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema, the escapees include Raymond Okwang, Innocent Owiny, Allan Adep, Daniel Okwir, Ivan Epong, and Michael Eboga. Others are Oscar Ebwor, Aaron Oryee, Patrick Ekadu, Ronald Okodi and Isaac Okello. He says nine escapees were pending court appearances while two were under investigation.

Okema says the two officers whose identities have been withheld and were on guard during the cell break have been arrested to aid with investigations.

According to Okema, preliminary findings have shown that the cell was not tampered with at the time of the escape. He adds that the suspects escaped through an opening in the ventilation where a metallic bar was cut.
